World AIDS Day : 01 December 2019
This year the theme for the World Aids Day 2019 is “Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Community by Community”.
01 December is celebrated as World AIDS Day every year all over the world to raise public awareness about AIDS.
World AIDS Day was first observed in 1988.

BSF Celebrates Its 55th Raising Day in New Delhi
The Border Security Force sentinels who are India’s first line of defence celebrated BSF’s 55th Raising Day on 01 December.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State Affairs Nityanand Rai at BSF headquarters in New Delhi.

BSF is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces of India and was raised in the wake of the 1965 War on 01 December 1965 for ensuring the security of the borders of India.
Suriname President Desi Bouterse sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing political opponents in 1980s
Desi Bourtese led Suriname during the 1980s as head of a military government and de facto leader.
He took office as president in 2010 and was elected for another term in 2015.

New Controller General of Accounts: Soma Roy Burman
The government on Sunday said it has appointed Soma Roy Burman, a 1986-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service Officer, as the new Controller General of Accounts (CGA).
Soma Roy Burman is the 24th CGA and is the seventh woman to hold this position.
Govt launches drive to enroll 1 cr beneficiaries under two pension schemes PM- SYM & NPS-Traders
The government has launched a drive to enroll one crore beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) and the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons (NPS-Traders) by March 2020.

RBL Bank to raise ₹826 crore from 5 investors
Private sector lender RBL Bank has decided to raise ₹826 crore equity capital from five investors to boost its capital base.
The bank’s board has agreed to allot 24.24 million shares at ₹340.7 apiece to five investors.

Indian Navy commissions sixth Dornier squadron in Porbandar
The Indian Navy commissioned its sixth Dornier aircraft squadron in strategically located Porbandar town of Gujarat.
It aims to increase coastal security near the sea border with Pakistan.
It was commissioned by Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Vice-Admiral M S Pawar.

H R Khan appoints as chairman of micro-finance panel CRL
Former RBI deputy governor H R Khan has been appointed as the first chairman of the steering committee of the Code for Responsible Lending (CRL) in micro-credit.
